TITLE PROJECT : INERTIAL SICKLE - AN APPARATUS FOR HARVESTING AND PRUNING ON AN PALM OIL PLANTS
Oil palm
smallholder still faced problem during harvesting because majority of them just
using conventional sickle as the tool. Even though, there are lot of tool that
will help smallholder or estate workers to harvest the oil palm such as Cantas machine
and Tusatu tool but
it still not enough to increase the efficiency and allowed the small farmer or
estate worker carried out harvesting process quickly especially for the palm
with 2m height and above. This product will help to solve the problem and
increase the efficiency harvesting process by using inertial impact. The worked
of this tool start when the pole was pulled, it will give an impact to
galvanize steel which was attached together with sickle
INTRODUCTION
The product is designed to solve the
routine problem occur in oil palm industry. It started from sickle that have
shaped beak eagle that give surface that easy to cut the poles is light and strong. Next, the
upper poles with spring for saving energy by the energy compress of spring that
transfer to the sickle through the galvanize steel to cut the fronds or oil
palm bunch. In addition, sickle also be change with chisel to harvest immature
oil palm tree. The inside of bottom
poles has rubber to give the strong attachment between upper poles and bottom
poles, the clip connector is also covered by the rubber to make the easier
attachment. The surface of bottom pole is covered by the rubber grip to give
the comfortable grip for worker in harvesting process. Next, the handle is
provided to make the easier harvesting process. The last parts at bottoms poles
are covered to avoid from soil enter it.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
- •Difficulty picking ripe fruits in oil palm plantations with the tree height of 2 m and above.
- •Convicted commonly used weight did not have security features such as sickle and pretty simple pole off if not attached tightly.
- •Using a lot of energy to harvest the fruits.
- •waste of time occurs when sickle stuck in the fronds are cut.
OBJECTIVE
- To provide comfort and convenience of farm workers or small farmers harvesting palm fruit plantation area: With tall trees 2 meters and above.
- To reducing the risk of conviction or pole off when harvesting process is underway.
- Use for harvesting in the oil palm plantation industry
- Using less energy
- Easy to handle
- Spring technology use
- Beak eagle of the sickle shape
